Anthropomorphism and allegory in art have a rich and ancient tradition. Depictions of Satan are always anthropomorphic and allegorical because Satan can take any form. No one knows what Satan looks like in his canonical form and such a form does not exist. For a Satanist there may be a personal favorite form of Satan, and this is the form the Devil takes for the Satanist. I have already written about this in detail in the grimoire “Gay Lust”.
Allegory (from ancient Greek ἀλληγορία – allegory) is an artistic representation of ideas (concepts) through a specific artistic image or dialogue. Allegory is an artistic representation of abstract concepts and generalizations using specific figurative embodiments. The artist depicts and represents faith, love, soul, justice, discord, glory, war, peace, spring, summer, autumn, winter, death and similar concepts with living beings and specific images[1]. Anthropomorphism is a worldview concept expressed by nominative means of language, fine arts, etc. According to this principle, inanimate objects, living beings and fictional entities that do not have human nature can be endowed with human qualities, physical and emotional[2].
Therefore, all artistic depictions of Satan are allegorical representations of our Teacher. More important than the painted image itself is the person’s perception of the painting. It could be surprise, lust, delight and other feelings. It is precisely these feelings that are born from viewing the paintings in the SatanArt album that are important. It is these feelings that give spirituality to Satan or immerse the beholder in Satanism. Also, the paintings in the album convey the general aesthetics of Satanism – this is a special sensual satanic beauty.
